Declutter
If you’re ready to let go of what no longer serves you and find meaningful donation sites, you’re in the right place! Donating is an act of love—for others, and for yourself.
Great job for taking the time to do this important work! Sorting through your belongings and making intentional choices isn’t easy, but your effort makes a real difference.
Below, you’ll find a simple, go-to guide for donation sites across Minnesota. From clothing to electronics, we’ll help you give back to your community while creating space for what truly matters!
Do you have an addition to our list?
We are always looking for additional resources to help our community of do-gooders. Please share with us and we'll get it added to our list.
1. General Donations
If you’re looking to donate quickly or have a large volume of belongings to be picked up from your home, here is a list of local agencies available:
What is Fast Fashion?
Fast fashion brands produce about 52 “micro-seasons” a year—or one new “collection” a week leading to massive amounts of consumption and waste.
Can hangers be recycled?
Most hangers are NOT recyclable and an estimated 85% of them end up in a landfill, where they take hundreds of years to break down.
Metal hangers can be recycled at a recycling center or scrap metal yard.
Plastic or wire hangers may be donated to a thrift shop or dry cleaners.
2. Clothing and textiles
Most of us wear only 20% of our clothes regularly, while the rest contribute to the 92 million tons of textile waste each year—donating responsibly helps reduce landfill waste and give garments a second life.

3. Household items
What you no longer need, could be exactly what someone else is hoping for. Give your gently used furniture, housewares, linens, appliances, electronics, and decor a fresh start.

An estimated 320 million books end up in landfills each year in the U.S. alone. This contributes to millions of pounds of paper waste, despite the fact that books can be reused, donated, or recycled.

5. Electronics & Office
Globally, around 50 million metric tons of electronic waste (e-waste) are produced each year. This includes discarded smartphones, laptops, TVs, appliances, and other electronics. Shockingly, only about 20% of this waste is properly recycled, while the rest ends up in landfills or is improperly disposed of, leading to environmental pollution.
More about electronics recycling in Minnesota
Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams, but many devices can be recycled instead of ending up in landfills. Minnesota has several programs in place to help residents properly dispose of unwanted electronics, keeping hazardous materials out of the environment and recovering valuable resources.
What can be recycled?
Computers, laptops, and tablets
Cell phones, chargers, and accessories
TVs and monitors (some locations may have restrictions)
Printers, keyboards, and mice
Small appliances and rechargeable batteries
How to recycle electronics responsibly
Minnesota offers various drop-off locations and collection events for safe electronics recycling. Before recycling, consider wiping personal data from devices.
Megan Marie Organizing streamlines the process by sorting electronics, identifying recycling options, and ensuring your items are disposed of. Decluttering responsibly means keeping your home organized while supporting sustainability efforts.
6. Beauty & Wellness
The beauty industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging waste each year. This includes plastic bottles, cellophane wrappers, and other packaging.
7. Toys & Kids
What is buy nothing? More below!
Nearly 80% of toys are estimated to end up in landfills, incinerators, or the ocean.
What is Buy Nothing?
